PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

MIRCO GRAENERT CONSULTING INCORPORATED                                                       October 2006 – Present

As owner of this company, manufacturing is taken to new heights.  Capabilities including a full machine shop, specializing in metal, low volume manufacturing, TIG precision welding and stamping prototyping and development, harnessing many tens of thousands of hours experience in metal stamping, tooling engineering, tooling relocations and assembly equipment build, fine tuning and repair.   We have provided our customers with 2D/3D CAD design, machine build, prototyping, precision welding and machining tasks, and advanced Lean Manufacturing products.

MAGNA INTERNATIONAL, Summary of divisions:  Cosma, Tesma, Intier             October 1989-May 2006

At the time of entering Magna International in 1989, from a strong back ground in the repair and service industry of vending machines with a hobby in electronics, welding and automotive repair, great advances were made.  The level of journeyman Tool and Die maker was achieved,  then followed by a further advancement to global Magna Corporate Global Technical Support Team and Tooling Engineering.  Precision metal manufacturing disciplines spanning light to heavy stamping, where dies were build, prototyped or maintained were mastered.   Repair and commissioning of Robotic MIG and spot weld fixtures, shuttle tables, rotary tables, overhead trolley transfer lines and  plant launch assistance was given.  Various die types were build or maintained - progressive, blanking, draw, coining and transfer stamping dies with components such as transmission cans, levers, brackets, bumpers, oil pans, support pillars, sectors, cross-members, power window hardware, stainless class-“a” panels, hydro-form frame rails, heavy stamping and robotic assembly equipment. Mercedes fixtures and Audi seating and flex tube assembly machines and components were repaired then sourced.  Guidance was given for the component build and replacement as well as complete new build of a metal tube welding production line.

TOOLING ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE APPLIED

• In a manufacturing and tooling engineering capacity, purchased tooling with a net worth exceeding 4 million dollars over the course of  8 months, followed up and PPAP`ed  these 20+ station progressive stamping tools with complex in die operations such as in die tapping and nut staking.

• Sourced  and followed latching assembly component prototypes.

• Utilized fluent German speaking and writing abilities, conversed with German speaking  tool and machine suppliers and translated trade specific technical documents.
  
• Experienced in product development and stamping die plant relocations

• Sourced and purchased tooling to prototype stamped  cylindrical heavy gauge  parts with extreme surface finish tolerances.

• Coordinated  and oversaw tooling drawing reviews of vendors, subsequently conducted vendor and internal PPAP runs.

• Worked closely with designers of tooling and parts, solved design issues, at times acted as a liason to the customer applied input to design components, assured initial production feasibility.

• Created master Excel documents to track progress, utilized  own  innovative green / yellow / red status indicators.

TOOL AND DIE EXPERIENCE APPLIED

• Global experience  via five working years with Magna International`s corporate technical support team, troubleshoot and rectified  mechanical assembly, hydro-form and fixture assembly start up issues.  Returned manufacturing plants to profitability.

• Experienced welder – MIG, stick, with exposure to laser welding and electron beam welding, robotic applications and expert stamping tool cutting edge TIG hard welding.

• Check fixture design and manufacture, tolerancing and continuous improvement on checking techniques and hand apply gauges, limiting human operator error factors.

• Involvement with FMEA, TFMEA, TS 16949, MSDS, GD&T.

• Designed new type of clutch pack snap ring rapid assembly machine and tooling which was implemented.

• Participated in team CI events and implemented  continuous improvements in many areas of automotive stamping and assembly.

• Worked safely  around  stamping and Hydro-form presses up to 5000 Ton using class II CB forklifts and 40T cranes, worked with tool weights up to 30 Tons.

• Experienced with in-die value added operations i.e. multi head in die tapping, nut clinching  and stud staking.

• Build  or repair of  progressive, draw, blank, transfer, hydro-form, progressive tube tooling for presses up to 2000 tons, as  well as assembly fixtures.

• Experienced with creating and conducting training programs for the manufacturing force or students  in a stamping plant as well as conducting video recordings for training purposes.

• Utilized state of the art 2D and 3D CAD for designing and improving material handling equipment by including implementation of vision systems.

• Involved in the set up of air blown nut and stud feeding equipment, optimized use of  bowl feeders.

Well versed  in electronic die and machine  protection, guarding  and proximity switch use, knowledgeable with laser sensors, having a good  understanding  of sensor types available to suit various applications.
